Green Tea Chiffon Cake

Green tea is an absolute treasure to good skin care. Its benefits in fighting old age is a fact you just can't ignore. I almost always include this wonderful resource in my daily DIY face mask. It is inexpensive and contains very little caffeine, so technically, there is no reason why should it be overlooked in the skin care maintenance. On top of that, it helps in weight loss too!

It is interesting now that we speak about green tea. There is something I would like to share with you.

Yes, it is the Green Tea Chiffon Cake!

Baking is one of my favourite past time. I learn it for Alex and ever since we have been together, I spent even longer hours in the kitchen immersing myself into the baking game.

I hope you enjoy the recipe!

Bon appétit!

Green Tea (Matcha) Chiffon Cake

You will need a round chiffon cake tin to make this =)

Ingredients:

(A)
6 egg whites
1/3 cup sugar
1/2 tsp cream of tartar

(B)
5 egg yolks
1/2 cup soy milk
1/4 cup grapeseed oil
1/4 cup sugar
2/3 cup plain flour, sifted
1/2 tsp baking powder
3 tbsp green tea powder

Methods:

1. Preheat oven to 170C.
(A) 2. Using an electrix mixer, beat egg whites until soft peak forms. Gradually add in sugar and cream of tartar and continue to beat until stiff peak forms. Set aside.
(B) 3. In a separate bowl, whisk egg yolks, soy milk and grape seed oil. Gradually add in sugar, sifted flour, baking powder and green tea powder. Continue to whisk until well combined.
4. Gently fold in 1/3 of egg whites into the yolk batter. Repeat the step with the remaining egg whites.
5. Transfer mixture to a cake tin. Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until skewer comes out clean. Remove chiffon from the oven and invert the tin immediately. Cool the cake on a rack or rubber mat. Serve hot with a lovely cup of green tea!

Remember, a cup of green tea a day, keep the wrinkles far far away! =D

Have a great day, everyone!

Warm regards,

Pea
